Bayonet Identification Guide

Bayonet Identification Guide

The following pages have pictures along with some basic information to aid in identification.  The list is by no means exhaustive, but does cover many of the bayonets encountered on the collector’s market today, as well as some unusual specimens. This guide is a work in progress.  The guide currently includes over 250 blades, frogs, and related items, from 53 countries. I will continue adding additional examples as I acquire new pieces and find time to do the required programming.

Bayonet Terminology: diagrams showing the basic terminology used to describe bayonets and scabbards.

Historical Timeline: read about key milestones in the bayonet's history, from the 1500s to the present day.
